Go Where Your Audience Is #WorkitWednesday

Posted on January 21, 2015 by Kara in Work it Wednesday

How do you know what avenue is the best to pursue to get the best marketing results? With all the emerging social media outlets and the old faithful (Facebook, email newsletters, etc.) how can you identify which one will be the best for you and your company’s needs? Go where your audience is.

It sounds simple enough, but it can be hard to get a handle on where your audience is and how to best reach them. This is where we’d be happy to step in. But if you want to learn to do it yourself, here are a few things to consider:

Who is your audience?

How well do you really know your audience? Facebook and various other social media sites have analytics that you can look at to better understand your demographic. Don’t make the mistake of thinking you know your audience because you know your target audience. Your target audience and your actual audience can be different. It’s important to know there’s a difference and to know what the difference is.

Do your research

Once you know who your audience is, look into what they’re into. This can greatly affect which avenue is your best option. Also, look into what your competitors or businesses like yours are using. If you’re friendly, you may even ask them what has been most effective for them. You can even look to join groups or forums that address this subject.

Try it, you’ll like it!

You’ll never really know what is best until you try it. Try different things. See what you do and don’t like. Make an editorial calendar to help you get organized and stick to it! One post doesn’t show you whether or not that particular site will be effective or not. Give it a little time. And consistency!

There you have it. Try it out. If you get stuck or need a little push in the right direction, let us know. We love this stuff. We’re happy to help in any way we can!
